Strict orders for senior public officials declare assets and liabilities

Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga has ordered all the ministries to timely submit the declarations of assets and liabilities of senior public officials.

Accordingly, the secretaries of the ministries are ordered to submit the declarations of assets and liabilities before 31 March to the Presidential Secretariat.

The President’s Secretary has also ordered the ministry secretaries to look into the submitting of assets declarations by senior officials of the ministries by the end of June 2013.

Weeratunga has highlighted that the ministry secretaries are required to maintain transparency as the main officials accountable for public funds. It is also said that the matter of assets declarations will be thoroughly observed.
