Supreme Court okays five to contest Cricket Board election

The Supreme Court has granted leave to K.Mathivanan, Asanga Seneviratne, Nihal Lewke, Sujeewa Lokuhewa and Eastman Narangoda to contest at the upcoming Sri Lanka Cricket elections.

A three member bench of the Supreme Court which included Chief Justice K. Sripavan, having heard petition SC (FR) No. 454/2015, lodged by K. Mathivanan,  ruled that he along with Asanga Seneviratne, Nihal Lewke, Sujeewa Lokuhewa, and Eastman Narangoda could be allowed to contest at the forthcoming elections.

Mathivanan lodged the petition after his nomination was rejected.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket Board Presidential aspirant Thilanga Sumathipala, in a statement said: “We are pleased to announce this decision of the Supreme Court and wish K. Mathivanan all the best and hope he scores a great victory to become the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.”
