Susantha to take over as CCC Chief next week

Business leader Susantha Ratnayake will next week take over as the Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the country’s premier private sector lobby group.

He will be inducted as the Chairman at the 172nd Annual General Meeting of the Chamber on 28 July at 5:30 p.m. at the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand.

Chairman of JKH, the country’s premier blue chip, Susantha will succeed Dr. Anura Ekanayake, who will stand down after completing his two-year term at the chamber. The Deputy Chairman will be Suresh Shah, Director of Carson Cumberbatch, a leading diversified blue chip.

The Chief Guest at the AGM will be World Bank Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Director Diarietou Gaye. A Senegalese national, Gaye joined the World Bank in January 1996 as a Country Economist, after serving 10 years in the Ministry of Finance in Senegal.

She has since held various positions, including Country Manager for Benin and Togo for the World Bank from 2002‐06, and Senior Desk Economist at the IMF, prior to her current posting. Most recently, she was on secondment to the African Development Bank as the AfDB’s Regional Director for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Seychelles.
