Take action against Weliweriya troops to protect Army’s image

UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera yesterday called on the Government to punish those members of the armed forces responsible for the attacks in Weliweriya in order to protect the image of the entire security forces.
Samaraweera said that because of the incidents in Weliweriya, where some soldiers loyal to the regime had overstepped their boundaries, the entire Army was under a cloud. He said that an impartial inquiry was necessary into the Weliweriya and Grandpass incidents.
