With heads of three tourism entities falling vacant, speculation is rife about likely successors, who however have to be appointed by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
For the resource-rich Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Bashara Guneratne is tipped. He currently serves on the Boards of all entities as he is the Director General of the Zoological Gardens. On the choice for Sri Lanka Conventions Bureau chairman speculation was of filmmaker-turned politician Neil Rupasinghe whilst for Hotel School, industry veteran Chandra Mohotti has been approached.
