The former Ceylon Continental Hotel has re-opened its doors unveiling its new identity, ‘The Kingsbury’.

The hotel underwent a $ 18 million refurbishment backed by Sri Lanka’s most diversified conglomerate, the Hayleys Group.

The newly refurbished five-star property will consist of classical architectural features and breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean from all its 229 rooms.

Hayleys Group Chairman Mohan Pandithage stated, “‘The Kingsbury’, as its very name suggests, really is an ode to the golden age of grace and elegance.”

‘The Kingsbury’ is equipped to raise the bar for luxury hospitality in Sri Lanka, with guest rooms being furnished with signature Bvlgari toiletries and Italian branded Frette linen. Restaurants are equipped with world-renowned Schonhuber Franchi & Sambonet cutlery, Spiegelau and Schott Zwiesel glassware, Villeroy & Boch crockery; with a trained team of staff to deliver an unmatched level of personalised service.

The five-star property will be led by its Chief Executive Officer Otto Stohl, a seasoned hotel industry professional with an exceptional track record that spans over 25 years at leading hotel chains such as The Ritz Carlton, Renaissance, Marriott International and Hilton.

The hotel’s main ballrooms ‘The Balmoral’ and ‘The Victorian’, a gourmet station delicatessen offering grab and go snacks, specialty cheese and confectionaries, and ‘Kings’, a typical Irish pub, will be operational from early December.

The hotel also plans to open up three new restaurants (multi cuisine, Chinese and seafood) in early January, providing more choice to its guests.
