Turkey’s flag carrier Turkish Airlines is extending its Istanbul-Malé service to Sri Lanka from next month.
Currently the Airline flies to Malé five times a week and the service will be extended to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) starting from 1 February.
As a result of the service extension, the operational schedule on Istanbul-Malé is being revised, and Turkish Airlines has local traffic rights on the Malé-Colombo sector, UK-based Routes said.
The airline plans to reduce the operation to four weekly flights from 31 March 2013. However, the flights will be operated on an Airbus A340-300 which can carry about 100 more passengers than the currently used A330-200.
