Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Nimal Siripala de Silva has said that the underutilised lands given to farmers for cultivation would be acquired by the Government, reports news.lk.
He has said that lands given to farmers under State grants, Mahaweli and Swarna Bhoomi deeds would be acquired if they have not used the lands productively. Addressing a ceremony to distribute deeds under the Rambukkan Oya Lower Valley Development Project, the Minister has said that the farmers should develop the lands that have been given for cultivation and the people should adapt themselves to a new lifestyle when they settle in new areas.
