A new ‘unity force’ will be launched next week to stand up against the Government, UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera said yesterday. Samaraweera told a news conference that the country is facing a dangerous situation and there is a need to join hands to take the fight against the Government.
The MP said that people have begun to build protective fences around themselves as a result of what is happening in the country and so, political parties and civil society need to come together to protect the people.
“We have discussed 10 points and these points were discussed with the support of many Government members,” he said.
Samaraweera said that an agreement will be signed on Thursday between the political groups and others who will be part of the unity force. (Colombo Gazette)
