UPFA re-appoints Prasanna, Shan as WPC, SPC Chiefs

The ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance has re-appointed Prasanna Ranathunga and Shan Wijayalal De Silva as respective Chief Ministers of the Western and Southern Provincial Councils.
The duo is expected to take oaths on Friday. They were Chief Ministers prior to the dissolution of the councils in preparation for Saturday’s polls, which was won by UPFA.
Contesting from the Gampaha District Ranatunga obtained 249,678 votes, whilst De Silva polled the highest votes of 95,860 in the south via Galle District.
