If the weather remains perfect, the finals of the first-ever T20 Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) will be played between Nagenahira Nagas and Uva Next tonight at 8 p.m. at Kettarama.
Both teams were considered underdogs, whilst high profile teams such as Wayamba United, Basnahira Dundees, Ruhuna Royals as well as Kandurata Warriors were among the most fancied to enter the finals.
Uva Next beat Wayamba to enter the finals whilst Uva Next, which was pitted against Kandurata in the second semi final, was lucky to make it on round robin results. This was after Wednesday’s semi-final got washed out.
For today, scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Colombo.
Despite great odds and scepticism, the conclusion of SLPL, which saw the participation of over 200 players, is being considered a milestone given its boost for the development of cricket at provincial level and tourism.
