The market opening ceremony of the Colombo Stock Exchange on 26 February will see the participation of the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy (Ministerial rank) to India and South Asia on Infrastructure, Dato’ Seri Utama S. Samy Vellu and his delegation, and Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva.
Newly appointed Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Thilak Karunaratne will also visit the CSE on the same day for the first time under his new term.
The bell ringing ceremony, to signify the opening of trading for the day at 9.30 a.m., will take place from the purpose built platform on the trading floor. The CSE, in keeping with the tradition followed by many exchanges globally, opens trading with the formal bell ringing ceremony on the first day of trading of a new listing or during the visit of notable persons to the Exchange.
