We are not Gota’s or Mahinda’s force: BBS

Responding to allegations by UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera on Wednsday that the Bodu Bala Sena was being funded by a secret fund of the Defence Ministry, representatives of the organisation vehemently denied the charge, claiming that they did not receive funding or human resources support from any Government institution or Non Governmental Organisation.

“I place a challenge before Mangala Samaraweera and anyone else: Our organisation is open and transparent, anyone can scrutinise our accounts,” Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thero said yesterday.

If any proof of the charge was found, the Bodu Bala Sena would cease their activities islandwide the next day, he claimed.

“We are not Gota’s force or Mahinda’s force. We are not an UNP force or a Norway force. We have our own support base and our own social capital from which we draw support,” the monk asserted.
