Weerasinghe new Chairman of Lanka Century Investments

Former top banker A.G. Weerasinghe has been appointed as the Chairman of Lanka Century Investments Plc with effect from 5 December 2013.
At present Weerasinghe serves on the Boards of many renowned companies in Sri Lanka, namely, Agstar Fertilisers PLC, Ceylon Leather Products PLC, Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC, South Asia Textile Industries Lanka Ltd., Colombo City Holdings PLC and Browns Investments Plc, and is the Chairman of Ascot Holdings PLC.
Weerasinghe is an experienced senior banker who joined the Taprobane Group of Companies in June 2012. Presently he serves as the Chairman of Taprobane Securities Ltd., Taprobane Investments Ltd., Lexinton Holdings Ltd., Taprobane Wealth Plus Ltd., and Heron Agro Products Ltd.
He is an Associate and a Fellow member of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka and also holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya. Weerasinghe served as an Assistant Lecturer in Economics, University of Ceylon, Peradeniya. He was also a former President of Sri Lanka FOREX Association and a member of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
Weerasinghe was the former Deputy General Manager, Corporate Banking at Bank of Ceylon. He has served as Country Manager, Bank of Ceylon, London and Deputy General Manager, International at Seylan Bank. He was a Director and was subsequently appointed as the Chairman of Pan Asia Banking Corporation PLC in March 2008 and continued his service till March 2012.
