Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Chief Ministerial candidate for the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) elections C.V Wigneswaran, in an urgent press conference in Jaffna yesterday, attempted to play down some of the comments he had made last week.
His comments on Tamil Nadu and LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran had stirred controversy both in Sri Lanka and in south India.
Wigneswaran told reporters today he was happy with the support given by youth in Tamil Nadu to the Tamil cause in Sri Lanka and that Tamils in Sri Lanka had gained a lot from it.
“I have no issues with Tamils in south India. Some of them are my friends,” the Uthayan website quoted Wigneswaran as telling reporters in Jaffna.
