Work on the renovated old Auditor General’s Department building complex is nearing completion. The Sri Lankan Navy has been entrusted with the renovation and development of the building. The landmark building complex has been renovated and restored while retaining its original architectural features. Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa made an inspection visit to the site this week to review the progress in work. The project is a brainchild of Rajapaksa who has taken an initiative to restore heritage buildings and put them to good use thereby giving them a new lease of life. The Dutch Hospital shopping precinct is one such project that has become a huge success. The recently opened Race Course complex is yet another project that has come under immense public praise for turning an abandoned historic building into a hip shopping and dining venue.During the visit Rajapaksa personally inspected the completed work and discussed the progress of work with the project officials.
