The first anniversary celebrations of the Good Governance government will be held at the Sanath Jayasuriya grounds in Matara tomorrow.
President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will preside at the event titled ‘New Country, One Journey.’
A colourful display of the national government’s achievements for the country and the people in the past year will be the highlight of the one year celebrations.
The unity government of the Sri Lanka Freedom party led by Sirisena and the United National Party (UNP) led by Wickremesinghe was formed following the parliamentary elections on 17 August, 2015. The UNP emerged as the single largest party in parliament but failed to win an absolute majority in the 225-member parliament.
Ministers and MP of all parties have been invited to attend the event which is organised by Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
