The 138th Battle of the Blues between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia ended in a draw after rain arrived to rescue the Royalists from a perilous descent towards defeat. After being bowled out for 255 in their first innings, Royal saw their traditional rivals pile up a hefty 357 runs for the loss of nine wickets before declaring. S. Thomas’ then had the Royalists firmly planted against the ropes at 154/8, teetering a mere two wickets from surrendering possession of the D.S.
