3-day “Salam Ramadan” celebration of togetherness begins at Green Path

The unique and vibrant 3-day celebration “Salam Ramadan” kicked off yesterday at the Green Path, Colombo 7 showcasing the spirit of togetherness that binds us all.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Western Province Governor Hanif Yusuf in partnership with multiple stakeholders and sponsors. The public will have the opportunity to enjoy food from all four Muslim denominations in Sri Lanka – Moor Memon, Malay, and the Borah communities at one location for the first time.

Salam Ramadan features over 50 food stalls, with major hotels and food vendors offering a diverse range of culinary delights. This is a family-friendly event, where visitors of all ages can enjoy an array of food, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

Prayer facilities for Muslim attendees, a designated space for obligatory prayers is available at the venue. Additionally, the Vihara Maha Devi Park next to Green Path will serve as a space for breakfast at sunset. Organisers have extended an open invitation to people of all faiths who can also pay a visit to CIS Harmony Centre for experiencing a poster walkthrough of Islamic Faith and Culture with Q&A, a traditional headdress corner and calligraphy corner where visitors names in beautiful Arabic Script are inscribed on gold board for a small fee.
