‘Why? Saama’ – a puppet show on the importance of gender equality was performed in celebration of International Women’s Day and World Puppetry Day at the British Council Library on Saturday, 23 March. Performed by finger, hand and giant puppets accompanied by clowning, mime and original live music, ‘Why? Saama’ is a show that aims to generate important dialogue around the issues of gender, self-confidence and courage to face your own fears, and grow in to your full giant potential. The performance was created by Power of Play Ltd., and supported by the ‘Voices and Choices’ grant of British Council Sri Lanka and partnered by Dilmah, Merill J Fernando Charitable Foundation and Compania Pirata
