East Link Engineering Company Ltd, a Sri Lankan company which designs and manufactures a range of high-tech, innovative, self-service banking machines to automate the banking process, launched a series of their innovative banking machines recently in Colombo.
East Link Engineering Company Ltd. Founder and CEO Ajith Indikadulle, a chartered engineer by profession, is an engineering graduate of the University of Moratuwa with years of overseas and local experience. He and his team design and manufacture many types of self-service products including banking automation products in Sri Lanka.
The East Link group was started in 1998 as a data communication company, and today it has grown into one of the leading engineering companies in Sri Lanka with an ultra modern manufacturing plant with hi-tech CNC machines and robots.
“We export our products to many countries around the world and we have offices in some countries in Europe and Asia. Our technical partners from around the world work very closely with us to make our products use the latest technology available,” he said.
“The successful of our journey is mainly due to our passion for innovation, out-of-the-box thinking and commitment. This has proven that our products are reputed in Sri Lanka and across the world for their quality and technology,” he added.
“We believe innovation is the path to success and we invest heavily in R&D (Research and Development). Our large engineering and technical team at East Link group contributes immensely to make it a success.
“Our KAD brand self-service product range is used by many banks and corporates in Sri Lanka for different applications. They are used commercially for many years and field tested and proven in technical and commercial operation. We can design and manufacture any type of self-service machine to cater to our customers’ needs.”
Self-service banking and banking automation is important for enhanced customer service and is the need of the day for people with a busy lifestyle, he asserted. The KAD range of self-service banking machines are intelligent, hi-tech machines using the latest technology developed for the banking industry, which revolutionise the customer service of the banking industry in Sri Lanka. These machines can do banking work 24x7, beyond the business hours of the banks and keep the bank virtually open 24 hours. In the modern business world, 24x7 customer service will help retain existing customers, get new customers and more business and also provide great convenience to the general public.
“We have developed a range of self-service banking products for different applications in the banking sector,” Indikadulle stated.
The Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) is a self-service machine that lets a bank customer make deposits 24 hours a day, seven days a week by cash and deposited cash credit to accounts on-line, real-time. The Cheque Deposit Kiosk (CDK) enables customers to deposit the cheques to the kiosk any time of the day and provides the customer with a printed acknowledgement receipt with scanned images of deposited cheques.
“We also manufacture Mini Banks, where cash deposits, cash withdrawal and cheque deposits can be done in the same machine.
“We have designed and developed an innovative solution for the scarcity of coins in circulation. The KAD school bank kiosk accepts notes and coins. School students can collect coins lying idle at home and deposit them into their bank account using a school bank kiosk. It helps to put coins back into circulation, which will save a large amount of money which the Government has spent to mint coins and also helps the general public with more coins being in circulation. It also teaches the habit of saving to children and builds more savings for children and for the country,” he said.
The note-to-coin exchange machine can used to insert currency notes and get an equivalent amount in coins. This machine helps the general public get the required coins.
A foreign currency exchange machine accepts foreign currency and issues Sri Lankan currency notes. Foreign currency exchange machines also eliminate malpractices, theft and different types of abuse in the foreign currency exchange process.“KAD VTM (Virtual Teller Machine) is a fully automated self-service bank branch which can conduct almost all banking operations through this machine, aided by video calls. We have now introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) to this machine to do banking, which is the latest technology in the world today,” Indikadulle revealed.
“We have a long list of banking automation, digitalisation and self-service products. This list is unlimited with customer requirements and passion for innovation.”
Indikadulle went on to state: “Sri Lankan businesses have to continually evolve to capture advancements in technology and we are ready to design and manufacture any type of self-service product using the latest technology available in the world today.
“We as a 100% Sri Lankan company are proud to contribute to keep Sri Lanka on the high-tech product manufacturing map of the world.
