Grande Gourmet at Nirj’s opens

Grande Gourmet at Nirj’s, a restaurant in the finest of French traditions, was opened by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently. The creation of Niranjan Deva Aditiya MEP or Nirj as he is called, this restaurant will definitely put Sri Lanka on the world map of gourmet cuisine. With the aim of bringing down Michelin star chefs as guest chefs, it is Nirj’s intention that Grande Gourmet will one day earn itself a Michelin Star. The cuisine will comprise a mix of French and fusion food, while the theme of the restaurant is Louis Napoleon, who was the first elected Emperor of France. The décor of the restaurant reflects this period and in fact diners could view the pictures of their Sri Lankan ancestors (particular to that period) adorning the walls of Grand Gourmet – Pix by Upul Abayasekara
