HNB Assurance holds Annual Staff Conference 2014

HNB Assurance held their Annual Staff Conference for the 10th consecutive year recently at Golden Rose, Colombo. The staff conference has been one of the significant events in the corporate calendar of HNB Assurance since it is the only event where all employees gather under one roof for an official function. The event was graced by Hatton National Bank Managing Director/HNB Assurance Director Jonathan Alles, HNB Assurance Managing Director Manjula de Silva, the Board of Directors and the management team of HNB Assurance. The staff conference is organised with a few key objectives in mind. A formal review about the company’s performance for the past year is done whilst unveiling the corporate objectives and plans for the ensuing year to all staff. Also, the company recognized seven employees who have performed exceptionally well going beyond their call of duty by awarding them the most prestigious award in the company, “The Chairman’s Award for Excellence”. HNB Assurance firmly believes that all employees should be aware of the direction the company is heading in, which will enable them to relate their scope of work to the overall corporate objectives and contribute more efficiently and effectively. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest HNB MD Jonathan Alles highlighted the market opportunities that HNBA can capitalise on through the bifurcation of Life and Non-Life insurance business by end of the year. He also commended the HNBA team on the positive growth in GWP and profitability and thanked the employees for their valuable contribution. HNBA Managing Director Manjula de Silva unveiled the company’s corporate objectives and plan for the year 2014. He too commended the HNBA team for the awards and accolades won by the company and staff at national and international levels. Another highlight of his speech was the briefing on the planned segregation process which will take place on a staggered basis during the year. The senior management of the company also addressed the gathering. The HNBA dance troupe added glitter to the staff conference through their colourful dance acts while the company’s brand ambassadors, Bathiya and Santhush along with Ashanthi added a touch of glamour with a well-received musical performance. The following employees were awarded the “Chairman’s Award for Excellence” in recognition of exceptional performance beyond the call of duty. The seven winners were T. Rizepan, Pushpika Seneviratne, Punsirini Perera, Chaminda De Zoysa, Ranjith Fernando, Harshana Ranaweera and Madushika Sewwandi. The employees who won the awards were selected across the board irrespective of their grade and all of them received a trophy, certificate and a cash award each. This is the highest level of achievement by any employee in the company. The staff conference was followed by the “Stars of HNBA” talent show singing competition. Eight finalists selected from preliminary rounds competed for the Best Singer award and the Most Popular Singer Award. The competition was judged by popular singers Rohana Bogoda, Dayan Vitharana and Amila Nadeeshani. Anuradha Koralalage of Head Office won the Best Singer Award whilst John Hindle and Deva Galapitiya of the Distribution Network won the second and third places respectively. Deva Galapitiya also won the Most Popular Singer award based on the highest number of votes given by fellow colleagues. The event was backed by the live music of the HNBA Band “ANACRUSIS” comprising employees from various divisions and branches.
