Commenting at the opening, Siyambalapitiya stated: “The Government has carried out successful economic development over the last few years and we are one of the partners of this success – after defeating terrorism, Sri Lanka recorded rapid IT literacy growth and today it has increased to over 50%. We hope to reach 70% in 2016 and create 100,000 IT technicians in the country.” Organised by the Federation of ICT Industry in Sri Lanka (FITIS), INFOTEL 2014 will be open from 24 to 26 October under the theme ‘A Smarter Tomorrow’ at the BMICH, Colombo. The exhibition features 200 plus stalls in a special pavilion covering eight sectors – software, hardware and digital devices, cloud computing, computer games, mobile computing, emerging technologies, ICT education and training.
