The Department of Chemistry, University of Sri Jayewardenepura organised the second ‘International Symposium on Polymer Science and Technology 2015 in Collaboration with Industries, Institutions and Universities’. The symposium was a three-day event and was held at the Galle Face Hotel. This symposium was enriched with the participation of world-renowned scientists from Japan, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Czech Republic, India and Sri Lanka. The inventor of carbon nanotubes, Kavli Prize winner Prof. SumioIijima was the keynote speaker. He has been awarded the Kavli Prize (on par with Nobel Prize) for nanoscience in 2008 for his exceptional and extraordinary inventions in nanotechnology
