The Negombo Toastmasters Club was formed in 2011 to provide a mutually-supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. This has provided a platform for all the enthusiastic people who live around Negombo to develop communication and leadership skills by attending our meetings, speaking in public and receiving evaluations. Their leadership skills are also sharpened through many roles that they undertake to perform at meetings and as members in many committees. Every year a new executive committee is appointed and leaders are installed for each club. This committee plans the meetings and maps and steers the course of the club for the next year. The installation ceremony is the most important function in the Toastmaster’s calendar. This year the Negombo Toastmasters Club installation ceremony was held on 5 July at the Maris Stella OBA Centre Negombo. The Chief Guest for the event was District 82 Lieutenant Governor – Marketing – DTM Sudash Liyanage and the Guest of Honour was Division Governor TM Niroshan Motha.
