Soorya launches Super Soorya Incense Sticks

Kandy City Centre witnessed something very special on Friday, 27 February, as the beautiful fragrance of the newly-launched Super Soorya Incense Sticks mingled with the voices of prominent politicians and celebrities. For 40 years, Soorya Matchsticks has been the brand of choice for discerning housewives, and with this new brand extension into incense sticks, Soorya marks a new chapter in its journey in the Central Province. Speaking to the media at the launch, Sun and Asoka Group Chairman Deshamanya B.D.R. Rajan spoke about the history of the company as well as the thinking behind Super Soorya Incense Sticks. Group Director Gauri Rajan emphasised the one-of-a-kind properties which set apart Soorya Incense Sticks from the competition, including its distinct varieties with eight different fragrances, as well as the special promotional packs which were released. The Chief Guest for this special event was Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake. Also present to show support for the brand were local celebrities Suraj Mapa, Yashodha Wimaladharma, Upeksha Swarnamali, Damitha Abeyratne, Tharuka Wanniarachchi and Dinakshi Priyasad. They were present as a part of Suraj and the Elements, who, together with the Soorya brand, planned on presenting ‘Elements of Soorya’ the very next day. This was to be a gala concert presented by Suraj and the Elements, as well as a number of students from schools all over Kandy, who would be trained by these celebrities, and be given the novel opportunity to showcase their talents on a unique platform. This initiative between Suraj and Soorya was elaborated on all celebrities who were present at the launch event, and it emphasised the message that an artist and a company born in the Central Province, wanted to give back to the Central Province. Many flash mobs, dances and entertaining games were organized for the large crowd who were gathered at the Kandy City Centre. The interest in the new Soorya Incense Sticks was overwhelming, and it was evident that Soorya had introduced what was sure to be yet another household staple
