SriLankan Airlines Toastmasters seek new avenues under new leadership

SriLankan Toastmasters passed down the mantle of leadership to a new set of aspiring individuals who are armed and geared to lead the club towards great triumphs. The new office bearers for 2014/15 were announced and entrusted with their respective designations at a special installation ceremony which unravelled at SriLankan Aviation College premises. The new office bearers were welcomed and given an opportunity to express their vision on how they intend to drive the Toastmaster Club forward. Toastmaster Lal Rohitha, Service Delivery – Ramp, was entrusted with the task of leading his fellow Toastmasters as he was designated as the President of the Club. Sudath Ranaweera, IT was appointed as the Vice President, Education while Rasika Lakmal, Finance was appointed as the Vice President, Membership. The post of Vice President Public Relations was given to Udaya Rathnayake, HR Division – SriLankan Catering while E.A.D. Ariyakumaradasa, IT was appointed as the Club Secretary. Pubudu Wijerathna, SriLankan Aviation College was named as the Treasurer and E.A.D. Wasantha, Cargo, was titled as the Sergeant at Arms. Gracing the event with his distinguished presence, Chamara Perera, Head of Information Technology attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Janaka Munasinghe, Senior Manager Worldwide Cargo Operations, Primal De Silva, General Manager SriLankan Aviation College, Troncy Nanayakkara, Airport Service Manager (Ramp), Chinthaka Kulatilake, Srilankan Catering Manager Human Resources & Administration also attended the event. Expressing his vision with the attendees and fellow Toastmasters, the new President Lal Rohitha stated: “I am honoured to become the President of the SriLankan Toastmasters Club. My dream is to improve quality and skills of our toastmasters to the level of winning the area and division speech contest. We may face difficulties and hardships while achieving our goals, but great thoughts, discoveries and inventions have usually been nurtured amidst difficulties and hardships.” Motivating Toastmasters with positive wisdom, Chamara Perera, Head of IT delivered an inspirational speech that expressed his well wishes to the new office bearers. He gave words of encouragement and invited them to set forth a new phase where the SriLankan Toastmasters Club will make major strides through sparks of creativity and a new vision. Rienzie Perera, the past President of SriLankan Toastmasters Club also delivered a special speech on the club achievement during the year 2013/14. Fun-talk Kids program for the children of SriLankan staff, conducting successful Speechcraft program at AASL and achieving President’s Distinguished Award were the highlights of the past year.
