4rever Skin Naturals signs MoU with Institute of Indigenous Medicine

By Paranagamage Waruni and Gunamala Sajeewani A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between 4rever Skin Naturals Ltd. and the Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM) of the University of Colombo was signed last week to promote the development of herbal products. Outlining the purpose and benefits of signing the MoU, 4rever Skin Naturals Chairperson Chandani Bandara said: “It will provide mutual support to the establishments and subsequent development of joint academic/research activities will benefit both parties and aid the manufacture of innovative and quality Ayurvedic applications to suit our valuable customers.” “Developing Ayurvedic products, engaging in research on natural herbal ingredients on herbal skin care and herbal edible products and joining promotional and awareness campaigns on herbal cosmetics and beverages are also in our future plans,” she added. 4rever Skin Naturals is a fully Sri Lankan owned customer oriented company, in operation since 2006, offering a range of skin care products and is owned by Chandani Bandara, a well-known professional hair and beauty consultant along with a team of experienced professionals in the area of beauty education. IIM Director Sunimal Senarathne said the MoU will provide facilities for the optimal subjects of industrial manufacturing of herbal products to IIM and help in sharing research pertaining to herbal ingredients and herbal cosmetics. The Director also requested the arrangement of a one day factory for all second year students and putting in place internships for selected students at the 4rever factory complex in Pallekele. IIM is a higher educational institute in Sri Lanka that provides instructions in Ayurveda, Unani and indigenous systems of medicine at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It commenced as the College of Ayurveda and was subsequently upgraded and affiliated to the University of Colombo in 1977 as the Institute of Indigenous Medicine. 4rever has a unique range of skin care products called ‘4rever Skin Naturals’ which includes moisturising creams, fairness creams and gels, and other related products. Each product has a unique mix of ingredients that captures all the benefits of Ayurvedic knowledge.  4ever has received BOI status and opened a new factory complex at the BOI Zone in Pallekele, Kandy in 2010, investing Rs. 100 million to provide Sri Lankan and overseas markets with a range of cosmetics, herbal extracts, tea concentrates and other related products. It manufactures all its products under European/Asian recognised GMP standards and ISO 9001:2008 quality standards and their products are registered in Cosmetics, Devices and Drugs Authority of Sri Lanka (CDDA).
