Winners of ‘Alpha Connect Day 2024’

CameraLK, the leading camera retail giant in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Sony, orchestrated ‘Alpha Connect Day 2024’, the nation’s biggest photo and video competition of its kind. This exciting event, which offered prizes worth Rs. 10 million, unfolded on 23 March at Trace City Colombo, marking a significant moment in Sri Lanka’s creative landscape.
The competition featured two distinct categories, photography, and videography, each offering coveted prizes to participants. In the photography category, the grand prize comprised the latest Sony 7CR camera paired with a 24-70GM2 lens. The videography category offered the Sony FX30 camera and Sony 10-20G lens to its top winner. Spanning across Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Bangladesh simultaneously, Alpha Connect Day 2024-Sri Lanka attracted 200 participants eager to showcase their talents. Participants were provided with creative challenges, inspiring them to explore diverse perspectives and unleash their creativity.
CameraLK Managing Director Anushka Gunasinghe expressed enthusiasm about the event’s success, stating, “Alpha Connect Day 2024 exemplifies our commitment to fostering innovation and creativity in the photography and videography community. Sony Electronics Sri Lanka Country Manager Thomas Sim echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the brand’s dedication to supporting emerging photographers and videographers. “Partnering with CameraLK for Alpha Connect Day 2024 allowed us to witness the incredible potential of Sri Lanka’s creative talent pool. We are proud to have played a role in nurturing and celebrating their passion.”
The competition was adjudicated by a panel of nine esteemed photo and videography professionals, who not only evaluated submissions but also provided valuable guidance and feedback to participants. Among the winners, Pavithra Dasun emerged victorious in the photography category, with Chalanga Sindujan De Silva securing the runner-up position. Ranga Piumal Suriyage was awarded the Judges’ Favorite in the photography category. In the videography category, Asanka Nayanasrikantha Peramuna claimed the top spot, while Lakshitha Madushan received the Judges’ Favorite award.
