Art contest for Sri Lankan children to mark International Children’s Day in Lebanon

In celebrating International Children’s Day, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beirut organised an art competition for children of the Sri Lankan community in Lebanon, for the second consecutive year. 

The competition was held at the Embassy premises on 7 October and it was organised under the themes ‘Mother Sri Lanka’ and ‘the favourite aspects of the motherland’. 

The winners were selected by a panel of judges consisting of Rita Hobeiche, representative from the Fine Art Gallery in Beirut, Aida Saadah, official of the Russian Cultural Centre, and Noha Roukoss, Project Awareness Officer of the Caritas Centre in Lebanon.26 Sri Lankan children participated in the competition and certificates, medals and prices were awarded for three places under two categories. In the senior category, M.G.P. Manilka Wijerathna, T.M.M. Divyanjali Peiris, and L.L. Shamer Dimantha won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. A.A. Roshean Diyana Dias, N. Meinuwanthi Marasinghe, and Mariyam Radi won the first, second and third places under the junior category.
