The Upper Key Stage 2 Choir Squad of The British School in Colombo kicked off the festivities by performing at the lighting of the Christmas tree at Cinnamon Lakeside on 29 November.
The children, under the tutelage of Anupama Dehiwela and Sarah Flynn performed a medley of Christmas carols to celebrate the start of the season. Through the encouragement and support of their teachers, and their own hard work and commitment, the children showcased their talents to an audience of over 100 guests.
Backed up by the Upper Key stage 2 orchestra, the children sang their hearts out to several Christmas classics and celebrated the diverse community of the British School in Colombo with a rendition O Holy Night in Mandarin, Hindi and French.
Culminating in a mash up of Winter Wonderland and Here Comes Santa Claus, the evening encompassed the magic of Christmas while setting the scene for a festive Christmas season.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the young musical talent at The British School in Colombo and an opportunity for these young performers to build their confidence and nurture their passion for performing. The support of Cinnamon Lakeside General Manager Nazoomi Azhar, and the hotel’s events team, has been invaluable in providing the kids with this opportunity.
