  • In parallel with the sale of two books by Rohan de Soysa

This unusual exhibition of selected photographs from ‘Tao Tossed Thoughts’ and its predecessor ‘Slow Cooked Thoughts’ (both written by Rohan de Soysa), integrated with illustrative reactions by Prasad Abu Bakr, to create 61 pieces of unusual artworks that will go on show and sale in parallel with the sale of the two books, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from 26 to 28 November.

The artworks will consist of pictures done on paper as well as a few canvases using the photographs by the author as the base and enhanced by the artist using additional material such as acrylic paint, pencil and pastels mixed with colour swatches from magazine cuttings used by the artist on working bases such as handmade paper and canvas.

Artist Prasad Abu Bakr has made this ‘method of collage’ working with photographs, first using his own photographs at the beginning, of which his initial collection of work was shown at the Alliance Francaise de Colombo in 2016 and later at consecutive art exhibitions including ‘Art Trail’ during the annual Galle Literary Festival at the Galle Fort.

The artist held his last exhibition of work in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise de Kandy in 2019 and is an artist who shows his work regularly at the Nawakalakaruwo art show organised by the George Keyt Foundation besides being a regular participant at the annual Kala Pola organised by the John Keels Holdings over the years.

Arrangements are made to make copies of the author’s latest book Tao Tossed Thoughts available with a Rs. 2, 500 discount during the exhibition period (subject to availability) and then from 29 November to 4 December. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sapumal Foundation, 32/4, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.
