The Indira Cancer Trust launched its latest initiative, ‘UnVeil,’ at the Bride and Groom Wedding Fair 2023, which commenced at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday.
UnVeil is a collaborative initiative between Indira Cancer Trust, bridal designers, hair and makeup artists, florists, jewellers, and other wedding-related service providers. Its purpose is to provide psychological and financial support to cancer patients, helping them realise their dream of getting married, regardless of their cancer diagnosis.
It offers personalised bridal attire. This includes designer veils that provide head coverage, bridal outfits with features like breast pads, and specialised makeup to address issues like eyebrow and lash loss. The package also includes significant discounts and complimentary services for various wedding-related aspects, such as floral arrangements, wedding invitation printing, jewellery, rental car services, and a range of other wedding services.
According to the Indira Cancer Trust, the introduction of UnVeil aims to prevent cancer patients from delaying their life events due to the stigma they often encounter.
The organisation said the services offered under UnVeil are accessible to any cancer patient, regardless of gender, who intends to get married, provided that their medical reports are verified by the Indira Cancer Trust.
Currently, Indira Cancer Trust led by Dr. Lanka Dissanayake supports patients with cancer of all ages and their families through 23 different programs and has a volunteer force of over 700.
