  • Exhibition highlighting global and Sri Lankan perspectives reaches Jaffna for its final leg

The Embassy of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), are organising the final leg of the photo exhibition, “75 Years of the Geneva Conventions: Global and Sri Lankan Perspectives.”

The exhibition will take place at the Kailasapathy Auditorium, University of Jaffna, from 16 to 29 December, and will be open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exhibition will consist of two parts: ‘Dialogues in Humanity’, a collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Photo Elysée, museum for photography in Lausanne and the ICRC and a selection of photos from the ICRC’s audio-visual archives on the history of the Geneva Conventions and the protections afforded by them.

Following its successful showcase in Colombo and Kandy, which included an engaging panel discussion on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the exhibition in Jaffna invites audiences to explore the enduring global and local relevance of IHL. This initiative underscores the universality of humanitarian principles and their critical role in fostering peace and protecting humanity.
