Since their humble beginnings at the St. Joseph’s College carol service back in 1997, the Old Joes Choir (OJC) has come a long way. Their latest production ‘Evolution: The Journey’ will reflect the ensemble’s 20-year journey and will take on the Lionel Wendt on 23 September (Saturday) and 24 (Sunday).
From performing at corporate events to establishing themselves as World Champions at the 2014 World Choir Games in Latvia, the journey of the OJC has undoubtedly been a remarkable one, which has continuously resulted in the college flag flying high on many stages.
Earlier in April, this year the choir also hosted a successful thanksgiving spiritual performance, ‘This is my story’, at the majestic college chapel, where they first performed 20 years ago. The story was witnessed by a full house and ended with a standing ovation.
Evolution: The Journey promises an exciting evening for both the young and the old. The show will cover a range of genres such as Pop, Rock, Funk, Barbershop, Jazz, A cappella and Dance. It will also feature exciting choral arrangements of songs by Queen, The Scorpions, Seal, Justin Timberlake, Michael Buble, Jason Mraz, Boys2Men and an original composition by a local artist, amongst many others.
So do keep your evenings free and come witness a show that is truly world class. Tickets are priced at Rs. 2,500, 2,000, 1,500 and 800 (Balcony). They are available at the Lionel Wendt. For online bookings log on to www.lionelwendt.org.
