Rataa at Selyn Craft Market today

Synonymous with Sri Lankan produce and styles, the Rataa at Selyn Craft Market will take place today (20 August) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Selyn Colombo, 102, Fife Road, Colombo 5.

During the day craft enthusiasts can meet the artisans, enjoy live craft demos and local treats. There is also a pottery workshop for kids, participation at which requires prior registration at [email protected] or call 0779687289. There will be two sessions of two hours each at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Founded in 1991, Sandra Wanduragala (Attorney-at-Law) started Selyn in her home garage with 15 women in the village of Wanduragala in Kurunegala. Selyn now has around 1,000 artisans within its networks. Sandra’s daughter and namesake, Selyna Peiris (Attorney-at-Law) has since joined the company to lead its next generation.
