Russian Classical Music Evening on 2 Nov.

The Russian Centre in Colombo will hold a Russian Classical Music Evening on 2 November from 7.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

St. Petersburg State Philharmonic’s Dimitrii Miachin and St. Petersburg Marinsky Theatre’s Nelia Gafiiatullina will be the performers. 

Dmitrii Miachin is a Graduate of the piano faculty of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Professor Ekaterina Murina, People’s Artist of the USSR). He is also a Member of the Interregional Union of Concert Figures, Honorary Director of the International Arts Centre ‘Wings’ (Beijing), five-time scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, author of two studio albums of original compositions and classic music, permanent participant of concert programs at the Small Hall and Great Hall of the Philharmonia of St. Petersburg and partner of the company ‘Petersburg Seasons’.

Dmitrii’s solo concerts were held in major venues in Russia and around the world, including Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Japan, China, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia.

In 2018, Dmitrii’s solo debuts took place in the legendary Vienna Musikverein, the House of Moscow (Riga) and the Small Philharmonic Hall of St. Petersburg. In March 2019, Dmitrii signed a contract with the Italian production company Nexo Digital (Milan), which is a subsidiary of Sony Classical.

The soundtrack to a movie, which is to be released in cinemas in November 2019, will be heard in 60 countries of the world, on all platforms. In addition, Dmitry is invited as a guest to the Venice Film Festival, where his original compositions will be played.

Dmitry is also invited as a composer and pianist at the Cinevolna International Film Festival (Spain, Alicante) where joint projects will be held with famous actors and artists such as Dmitri Dyuzhev, Sergei Garmash, Karen Shakhnazarov and others.

Dmitrii is a laureate of international and national competitions, such as the Chopin Competition in St. Petersburg and the Glinka Competition in Moscow. He was also recognised as the best accompanist at international competitions named after Rachmaninoff, Elena Obraztsova, Zara Dolukhanova and Jose Carreras Grand Prix. In addition, he is also the official ambassador of the elite cosmetic company Phyt’s (France) in St. Petersburg.

Nelia Gafiiatullina is a laureate and winner of the Grand Prix of international competitions: International Competition “Viva Music” (third place – 2011, Grand Prix – 2012); Dominanta Art-Forum (second place – 2012); Bella Voce (third place – 2013); International Competition for Performers of Instrumental, Choral, and Vocal Music ‘The Silver Tuning Fork’ (first place and Grand Prix – 2014) and International Vocal Competition ‘Star Rhapsody’ (second place – 2018).

She successfully performed in the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre, State Grand Concert Hall named after Salih Saydashev (city of Kazan), at the Small Hall and Great Hall of the Philharmonic of St. Petersburg. In addition she took part in the Mariinsky Theatre production “The New History of Cinderella” (2014), as well as in concerts organised by the conservatory and other arts organisations in St. Petersburg.

Between 5 October and 27November 2017 Nelia took part in more than 50 music concerts in the UK.

Since 2018, she has been a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre Academy of Young Opera Singers (AMP). Since 2019, she has been the soloist of the major Russian concert organisation “Petersburg-Concert”.
