Sanna unveils groundbreaking literary experience: ‘Chat with a Book in a Cafe’

Upul Shantha Sannasgala last week unveiled his latest masterpiece, “No Stopping or Turning Back,” at the renowned Barista in WTC, Colombo. 

This literary extravaganza is set to take place promising an evening of culture, coffee, and intellectual discourse.

The event, which unfolded splendidly for eight hours during its debut, marked a departure from the traditional book launch experience in Sri Lanka. 

Organised by Upul Shantha Sannasgala, the Book Fiesta Sanna at Barista program introduced a novel approach to book launches, creating a space for ongoing discussions among readers.

This unique initiative not only redefines the way books are released but also aims to bring a different cultural life to the readers. Instead of a one-time release, the event fosters an environment for continuous dialogue among those who have read the book. The Book Fiesta Sanna at Barista program introduces Sri Lankans to the concept of selling books in a cafe. Despite its novelty, the program creatively and aesthetically demonstrates how this can be achieved. As part of the initiative, the book “No Stopping or Turning Back” is now available for display and purchase at every Barista cafe in Sri Lanka, providing readers with an opportunity to engage in book discussions in a cafe setting.

During the event, Upul Shantha Sannasgala expressed the tradition encapsulated in the book’s title—publishing without turning back or stopping. The eight-hour extravaganza featured many aesthetic features and attracted a large number of fans of Sannasgala.

Moreover, the program’s objective extends beyond the event itself. It aims to introduce “No Stopping or Turning Back” to all Barista cafes across Sri Lanka, allowing these cafes to display and sell the book.
