Sky Gallery presents ‘Dreamscapes – The Surreal World of Salvador Dalí’

The Sky Gallery of the Fareed Uduman Art Forum will present ‘Dreamscapes’ – an extraordinary exhibition that showcases the surreal world of Salvador Dalí.

This captivating exhibition features meticulously reproduced masterpieces by the legendary artist, offering a rare opportunity for art enthusiasts to step into the dreamlike and thought-provoking realm of one of the 20th century’s most iconic and enigmatic figures.

‘Dreamscapes’ will be open to the public from Wednesday, 13 March to Sunday, 23 March, and is presented with the authorisation of VEGAP (Visual Entidad de Gestión de Artistas Plásticos).

Each artwork has been crafted with the utmost care and precision, ensuring that the essence, detail, and brilliance of Dalí’s original creations are faithfully preserved.

Salvador Dalí is celebrated for his extraordinary ability to merge reality with fantasy, creating paintings that serve as a visual exploration of dreams, subconscious thoughts, and the bizarre. His surreal imagery often evokes a sense of weightlessness and instability, challenging our understanding of physical laws and pushing the boundaries of perception. Throughout his career, Dalí drew inspiration from a wide range of sources, including classical Renaissance painters, Freudian psychoanalysis, and groundbreaking scientific discoveries. His collaboration with filmmaker Luis Buñuel on the surrealist film Un Chien Andalou (1929) further solidified his reputation as a boundary-pushing artist, cementing his legacy as a master of the surreal.

Sky Gallery invites art lovers, students, and creatives from all walks of life to witness the mesmerising world of surrealism. The exhibition aims to inspire and provoke thought, encouraging viewers to interpret and experience art beyond conventional boundaries.

In an era where geographical distances can separate us from the cultural treasures housed in far-away galleries and museums, the Fareed Uduman Art Forum aims to break down these barriers. By curating exhibitions that showcase the works of great painters, the Forum seeks to enrich the artistic experience of the Sri Lankan community, to nurture a deeper connection with global art. The Forum has so far featured Vincent Van Gogh (1&2), Paul Gauguin, Gustav Klimt, and ‘50 Masterpieces’ in this endeavour.
