The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Turkey organised the second leg of the Sri Lankan Batiks promotional event with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to Antalya Ali Kamburoglu on 20 July.
The event was held at Beachpark, Konyaalti in the city of Antalya which is the tourism hub of Turkey. The visitors admired the glamour of Sri Lankan batiks and handloom sarees, wraparounds, shawls and other dresses and showed keen interest in connecting with Sri Lankan suppliers through e-commerce platforms.
During the event, Ambassador Rizvi Hassen briefed the guests on the vibrant Sri Lankan fashion industry and the uniqueness of batik and handloom. Honorary Consul Kamburoglu invited guests to explore not only the batik and handloom industry but also the short film industry of Sri Lanka.
Five Sri Lankan short films were screened at the event where invitees were also served Sri Lankan delicacies.
