The Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa in partnership with the Ottawa Public Library and Light of Asia Foundation screened the award winning Sri Lankan movie ‘Sri Siddhartha Gauthama’ at the Ottawa Public Library main branch auditorium on 6 September.
The event was attended by a large number of Canadians as well as members of the expatriate Sri Lankan community and the film, which is based on the life of Prince Siddhartha was received with much appreciation by the audience. Many were delighted at the opportunity of seeing the dramatised version of Prince Siddhartha’s story. A short video clip on Sri Lanka as a tourist destination was also shown prior to the commencement of the movie.
The screening of the film was organised by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa as part of a series of events commemorating Sri Lanka’s 70th Anniversary of Independence.
