As Sri Lankans, since our early childhood we are constantly being exposed to a flavoursome fusion of all types of cuisine infused with rich, home grown vegetables, meats and yams that rank high on charts of everything to do with healthy food.
Amongst these, thought to be more biased to the less healthy side, is our all time favorite kottu roti! Due to growing concerns over the rapidly increasing rates of cholesterol, diabetes and all kinds of other dreadful health related disorders many of us today, are forced to steer clear of indulging in this all time favourite Sri Lankan dish.
Here comes an opportunity for all those health freaks and the less concerned to equally immerse themselves in the luxurious delight of ‘healthy kottu’ and a wide variety of ‘artisan drinks’ with MLH this March!
Join MLH to celebrate the once thought impossible union of kottu and a concept of ‘healthy eating and drinking’. This brainchild of its traditional Sri Lankan cuisine mastermind Chef Publis (who also carried out a very successful record-holding kottu cook off a few years back), will take place at the Governor’s Terrace, MLH, from 2 to 11 March from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with tickets priced at Rs. 1,100 per person.
The menu will consist of organic homespun vegetables and yams infused with finely baked traditional kottu roti. Some of these include kos kotthu, kohila kotthu, nethrapalam (banana) kotthu, bread fruit kotthu, lotus yam kotthu, corn on the cob kotthu, polos kotthu, karankoku kotthu, pala kotthu and much more to please your taste buds.
The unique concept of ‘artisan drinks’ introduces its customers to a range of hot and cold beverages that are brewed using chemical-free, unprocessed, organic ingredients that have been recognised for their ability to improve health, regulate and heal the human body. Collaborations include green orange, egg and honey, tomato and cucumber juice, carrot and pineapple juice, fresh cocoa, lime and honey, chocolate, fresh milk and wood apple, beli juice and tea just to name a few. Keeping up with the latest global trends, these eye and taste appealing drinks are a must try this season! Visit MLH this March and enrich yourself with a scrumptious, not to mention exceptionally healthy, variety of nourishing kottu and soothe yourself afterwards with a wholesome ‘artisan drink; that’s bound to leave you feeling rejuvenated, along with a sense of guiltless satisfaction that only pure nature itself combined with sheer excellence in Sri Lankan cuisine can offer!
