31st Night at the Mount Lavinia Hotel

“You’re the Star,” said says Anura Dewapura, General Manager of the Mount Lavinia Hotel, when asked what the theme will be for many of the festive events and indeed 31st celebrations.“The spread for Rs. 14,000 nett is incredible,” states a guest at the events desk.

“A variety that is unbeatable, definite value for money and the entertainment, wow,” states a guest who booked a table of 12 for 31st night celebrations at the Empire Ballroom.

Mount Lavinia Hotel is counting down to the New Year as the hotel is ready to star in the many programmes. A major public celebration on 31st night at the Empire Ballroom will be “Misty at Glamour 2”. Then in the Terrace will a New Orleans style party with Mardi Gras being the focus with Rodney Rabot taking the night to newer heights.

“13 December marks St. Lucia’s Day; hence we have a great event at the Empire Ballroom,” states Dewapura.

When asked about the significance of Santa Lucia’s Day, he said: “Sweden’s shining custom is definitely what we at Mount Lavinia Hotel believe in too: faith and tradition. Hence we have shone on in the past year and then glamour takes over on 31st night. Hence a message of light and hope will be the take home for the New Year. Power voices of Soul Sounds and Voice Print will be the highlight too.”

A classic Gospel Jazz Sunday Brunch is scheduled for 26 December with powerful performances by Soul Sounds.

Everyone from kids to seniors will be able to participate in the 31st night celebrations named “Glamour Night on the Terrace” including seafood and oyster bar, carvery, molecular delicacies, home-made pasta stations, grand dessert buffet, home-made pate and terrines, Japanese sushi bar, crab and cheese kottu at midnight, a chocolate display and till the wee hours of the morning a gracious traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Guest artistes from DJ Pierre and DJ Kapila will be there to get the celebrations on a roll.

“You’re The Star Tonight” theme is intended to showcase you and attendees to “shine” on the thematic Glamour 2 and at Mardi Gras at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, states the General Manager. Everything from personalised photography to Oscar Statuettes is on the cards.

He further adds: “We’re planning on quality entertainment with lots of variety. We were able to engage Sri Lanka’s best musical talent to make the events particularly for the lighting of the Christmas Tree, St. Lucia’s Day, Gospel Jazz Sunday Brunch and indeed 31st with regard to the entertainment portion of the evening’s activities even more exciting than ever before.”
