The Sinhala and Tamil New Year marks the end of the harvest, bringing spring and rains as it enlivens the spirit of nature with flowers blooming and trees laden with fruits. Sinhala Aluth Avurudu rituals begin at the Galadari Hotel on 14 April at 03.15 p.m at the atrium of the hotel with boiling of milk, lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the traditional female raban players and dancers to announcing the time to start performing the New Year rituals.
