Beat Drummers headed by Sachintha De Silva is a band that loves to give their hands a good workout session with the beating of their drums. They have been entertaining the likes of corporate events, weddings and other affairs. They have also taken their music to India and Maldives.
To the people who have seen and heard these boys perform will no doubt want to listen to more of their beats and be disappointed with the 10 to 15 minute performances when they play for launches and other events.
Beat Drummer fans can catch them Live in Concert on 14 September at the Bishop’s College Auditorium with special performances by Eugene (Violinist) and Anthony Surendra (Guitarist). If you caught them in action at Park Street Mews, then you will know you do not want to miss the action with Eugene and them.
“We have made a few new drums, traditional beats as we mainly do traditional folk music with a little bit of fusion using barrels and beedu”, Sachintha stated. The drummers performing will be Dilan (Acoustic drums), Ashen (Traditional), Amila, Kelum Indunil on Percussion, Mihira (Beat Boxer) and of course Sachintha along with a few of his students who will also be performing with them on that night.
Sachintha said that they started this band in 2007 and before that he was performing and learning under his guru Ravibandu Vidyapathi for over 10 years. “Ravibandu is the person who made me who I am. I never thought I would start a band and it all happened by chance,” Sachintha added.
Sachintha comes from a family of dancers and drummers. His father late Arunajith De Silva was a dancer. From the time Sachintha was six years old, he has been learning to dance and he fell in love with drumming later on.
This concert on 14 September will be the last one for them for 2014, so don’t miss their electrifying beats. For more information call Madura on 0718157134 or 0779993470.
