An adventurous monk, Thengodagedera Hamuduruwo as he was known, goes in a ferry along a rivulet from Attidiya towards Pepiliyana. He hears drumbeats from a nearby thicket. He becomes inquisitive, gets off the ferry and walks towards the sound of the drums. As he advances through the thicket, the sound fades away. He looks around and notices a bo tree.
