Launched last month through an innovative and never before seen webcast press conference, the competition has so far seen entries pouring in from all corners of Sri Lanka including areas such as Monaragala, Polonnaruwa, Jaffna, Kandy, Matara and Kurunegala, bearing testament to the reach of digital media in Sri Lanka.

“We are overwhelmed by the success of the first stage of this competition,” Malik Perera, Chief Operating Officer of Seri Naturals Pvt. Ltd. said. “The huge response to this competition proves that Sri Lanka has fully embraced the digital era and Seri is proud to have been a part of this digital media revolution.”

“Adding to the success of this competition several companies have already tied up to partner this event. Real Radio and Kiss FM as radio partners, Lassana Flora as official florists and Chagall as the official styling and grooming partner, whilst many more potential partnerships are in the pipeline,” stated Shayana Raat, Director – Brands, Seri Naturals.

As the second stage now begins, 50 of the best applicants have been shortlisted and the photographs of these contestants have been uploaded to the Seri Facebook page for public voting. The page can be directly accessed by logging onto www.serinaturals.com/smsl. Public voting will be open for a period of 11 days from 23 October to 2 November 2012.

Based on the public votes/likes the next round of 25 contestants will be selected. The 25 candidates will then have to upload 3 more photographs of themselves along with a short video clip which will again be open for voting by the public.

Based on the number of votes/likes, the contestants will be shortlisted down to 12, and these contestants will be given the chance to be a part of a professional photo and video shoot, as well as attend workshops on a variety of beauty care subjects such as hair and make-up, skin care etc.

These final 12 contestants will be judged by a panel of judges including international personalities who will be connecting online. In addition to the overall winner the judges would also select the first runner up, second runner up, Seri Miss Photogenic, Seri Best Hair and Seri Best Skin. Another award for Seri Miss Popular will also be given out to the contestant with the highest number of votes/likes.

Seri Naturals has been at the forefront of offering quality skincare and body care products to the local market and has now taken steps to take advantage of the social media revolution taking place across the world, with this first ever fully integrated online competition.

This national level contest which will be conducted exclusively on Facebook is expected to open Sri Lanka to the international market while giving an opportunity for the public to join in and engage in the program no matter which part of the island they hail from.
