A Sinhala volume titled ‘Deshpremithwaye Kedapatha’ (Mirror of Patriotism) authored by former Minister Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, based on the life and works of Dr. T.B. Jayah who was one of Sri Lanka’s great Muslim leaders and took the forefront in the fight for Sri Lanka’s political freedom will be launched on Tuesday 3 June, at 3:45 p.m. at Zahira College, Colombo.
Dr. Jayah was not only a great leader but was also a member of the State Council and the Education Select Committee which played a major role in introducing a free education system to Lankan society.
Deputy Minister of Education Mohanlal Grero will be the Chief Guest while Director, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva will deliver the keynote address. Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province W.J.M. Lokubandara and Former Principal of Zahira College Javed Yusuf will deliver the guest speeches.
Copies of the book will be presented to representatives of the country’s major political parties at the launch. Patrons of Bakeer Markar Centre for National Unity, Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku and Faisz Mustapha PC will be presiding at the event.
