Bread baked fresh at Goodies, Cinnamon Lakeside

The pioneering pastry chefs at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, introduce yet another first in the market with their “Bake while you wait” range of breads.  Equipped with a state of the art oven, they churn out the freshest bread from just between twenty-five to thirty-five minutes.  

Patrons can now stop by, place their order, make a quick trip around the shopping arcade, which is also on the basement level of the hotel, and return to collect their warm loaf of bread, fresh out of the oven.  Alternatively, members of the hotel’s gym, could time the pickup for after a rejuvenating work out at Power Drome, an aerobic or dance class, or simply indulge in the many other treats available at Goodies while the bread bakes.

The range caters to just about every taste and need.  French bread comes in 300 gram loaves at Rs. 180/-++++, and takes 25 minutes to bake.  It’s best eaten fresh, and is a popular choice amongst those who enjoy a strong crust. The Farmer‘s Loaf is a 500 gram crispy, white bread.  It’s a simple, old fashioned loaf that bakes in 35 minutes and is priced at Rs. 250/-++++.

When the occasion calls for a soft Spanish bread with a savoury topping, the 400 gram Bartusa will fit the bill with its cheese and bell pepper topping.  Baked in 30 minutes, this bread is available at Rs. 250/-++++.  The Herb Bread is another savoury option infused with a winning combination of rosemary, thyme and oregano.  The 400 gram loaf bakes in 30 minutes and is priced at Rs. 230/-++++.

For the healthier minded, the Cornpep proves good health comes at no sacrifice.  It is a 500 gram multi-cereal, dark bread that trumps eating regular brown bread any day.  Cornpep bakes in 30 minutes and costs just Rs. 420/-++++.  Another extremely healthy choice is a flavorsome, dark bread made from rye grain which is high in fibre.  Rye Bread takes 25 minutes to bake and comes in 500 gram loaves.  It is recommended for its low fat content and because it does not create high spikes in blood sugar as regular white bread does.

Garlic Bread, the all time barbeque favourite, comes in 400 gram loaves.  It is a soft bread infused with chopped garlic and seasoning and bakes in 30 minutes.  The guest may order a loaf of Goodies Garlic Bread for Rs. 200/-++++.

A Sweet Fruit Bread is also on offer at Goodies.  It is a rich, sweet bread, combined with raisins, cashew nuts and cherries that is baked in 35 minutes in 400 gram loaves and priced at Rs. 350/-+++.
